Anomy

What is Anomy? The state of anomy is much the same as smelling some smoke and after which makes you confused and lost. The real definition of it is: "A state or condition of individuals or society characterized by a breakdown or absence of social norms and values." This concept has emerged in 1893 with French sociologist Ă‰mile Durkheim. According to him, some people might experience Anomy, especially there's a sudden change in their circumstances. One good example will be the Japanese soldiers after world war 2 where their economy started to pick up after they went back to their homeland after the war. Besides this example, another example could be for the modern world people; as the digital economy started to pick up and transform thousands and millions of lives, those who are not technology savvy might choose to give up learning new things and shows an emotion of apathy. Jargons

Below are some of the Blogging Jargon which I just learned and think it might be useful for you guys:
  1. Affiliate - It refers to a website owner (publisher) that earns a commission for referring 'clicks', 'leads' or sales to a merchant.
  2. Audio Editions Software - A software used to edit audio files and after which it can be used to transform into Podcasts.
  3. Auto Responder - It is a program that sends an automatic response form to incoming emails.
  4. Banner - Graphical display ad that can be displayed on a website or blog; banners are typically created in various standard sizes.
  5. Web Hosting Service - Online service that hosts websites and provide the publishers with online tools and template that are needed to create, publish or manage blog (personal recommendation is Hostgator or Bluehost)
  6. Click-through - The act of clicking on a link and following through to the merchant's site (sometimes a.k.a CTR click through rate)
  7. Conversion rate - The percentage of clicks that respond to an ad displayed on a site, compared to the number of people who simply visit the site.
  8. Content -  Combination of text, pictures, graphics, audio, video etc used to populate and create a website, blog or vlog.
  9. Cost-per-Action (CPA) - Online advertising payment model in which payment is based solely on qualified actions such as registration or sales.
  10. Cost-per-Click (CPC) - Online advertising payment model in which payment is based on clicks; the cost of equivalent paid per click through.
  11. Earnings per Click (EPC) - Average earnings per hundred clicks; a relative rating that describes the ability to turn clicks into commissions
  12. Pay-per-Sale (PPS) - An affiliate marketing program that rewards affiliates based on each conversion to a sale such as when purchasing a product or service from the merchant's website; PPS programs usually offer the highest commissions but tend to have the lowest conversion rates.
  13. Pay-per-Lead (PPL) - Affiliate program that rewards affiliates for conversion to leads; a lead might include a signup form, software download, survey, contest or sweepstakes entry, signup for the trial etc; PPL generally offers midrange commission and midrange to high conversion ratios
  14. Pay-per-Click - Affiliate program that rewards an affiliate for each unique click to the merchant's website; this type of affiliate program is uncommon because of click fraud or fake click
  15. E-commerce Website - Website that is designed to sell products online that will be shipped to the customer once payment is received. This type of website has a shopping cart feature that allows customers (web surfers) to safely and securely place their orders using a major credit card or another online payment method.
  16. Hit- A hit is achieved when a viewer has accessed a page.
  17. Merchant account - An account offered by a merchant account provider such as a bank or financial institution that is required for a business operator to be able to accept credit card payments; the merchant will be charged various fees to be able to accept credit cards.
  18. Metal Tag - A specific line of HTML programming within a website or blog that are used to categorize your site's content in various search engines and web directories.
  19. Mobile Blogging -  The ability to create and publish blog using a wireless PDA, cell phone, or notebook computer that's connected to the wireless web
  20. Performance-based Marketing - Marketing in which the merchant only pays commission for results such as conversions to sales or leads
  21. Paid Placement - Method by which a search engine provides space on its results page to display links to a website based on the highest bid for that space
  22. Search Engine Marketing (SEM) - A.k.a Keyword advertising; a form of internet marketing that uses short-text-only ads that are keyword based and appear when a potential customer enters a specific search phrase on a search engine.
  23. Tag - One or more keywords or phrase created by a blogger to help categorize each blog entry for easy searching of content by web surfers and Internet search engines.
  24. Target Audience - The core group of people your blog will most appeal to and who will compromise your core audience.
  25. URL (Uniform Resource Locators) - The address of a blog or website; a typical URL has three main components: 'www' or 'HTTP://'; a second part that a user needs to select; and a third part or extension, which is typical '.com'; however, a variety of other extensions are available such as .edu, .org, .net, .gov, .info, .TV, .biz, .name, and .us
Above Jargons are not exclusive listed, however, some of the Jargons are important to know because that is exactly how publishers make money online.
